I just love everything about these! I'm tempted to keep them for myself.
These fantastic vintage illustrations are from a 1955 children's book: ABC, 123. I've just uploaded them to the retroprint etsy shop and I don't think they'll last very long!
I know its is completely the wrong season, and none of us are thinking about SNOW here in Australia, but these vintage illustrations are just too cute not to share them with you!
They come from a vintage book, The Spectrum Story Book, from around the 1940s and are part of a small series on animals having fun with winter games.
I think they would look DIVINE, framed as a series on the wall of a little boy's bedroom. Or a big boy's bedroom. If I had more wall space I'd probably keep them for myself!
If you've fallen in love with them too, you can snap them up in the retroprint etsy shop, but you'd better be quick! They are a perfect vintage gift for someone this white Christmas.
Today is the first day of Magnolia Square St Kilda and the car is almost packed and I'm about to head off to St Kilda.
We were lucky enough to be In the Spotlight on the Magnolia Square snippets blog yesterday, just in time for the event.

I just love it when a vintage illustration finds the perfect home. That was the case with this framed 1970s firemen illustration by Tibor Gergely, photographed in the studio above.
Gergely was a great illustrator, one of many designers, illustrators and artists who moved to the USA from pre- or post-war Europe. Their style, and use of line and colour has had a great influence on me as a designer, something I've become aware of as I see their work again, including it as a part of the vintage prints product range.
Anyway, back to that fireman print! Somewhere in Melbourne, sometime in the next two weeks, some young man will recieve this illustration for his 21st. His mum spotted it at our stand at MAD! last Saturday and decided it was the perfect present for her son who loved this book as a child and was about to turn 21. What I love is that the illustration was at least 40 years old when he first saw it, so now at over 60 years old it has stood the test of time and generations of children.
Happy 21st young man! I wonder what illustration his mum will buy for his 30th!
I can't believe its November already, and the Christmas season is almost upon us. And Christmas means markets. And markets means Magnolia Square!
Not just one Magnolia Square, TWO! The first is St Kilda.
The design for the Christmas markets was inspired by all the vintage treasures Nic found on her recent trip to New York. Check out more photos here – she's a lucky girl!
Have you heard about MAD! Melbourne Art & Design Fair?
Its on this Saturday, 5 November in Prahran, at 118 High Street. We'll be there and can't wait to see the venue and be part of the first market from the people at Pop Up Markets.
Pop Up Markets are a new concept in the local market scene, planning weekly markets from now until Christmas at inner city venues such as car parks, laneways, and development sites. Anbd they also have plans for 2012.
Check out their website for all the details, plus a list of the markets for the rest of 2011. Each market has a different theme and focus, and a new bunch of designers and artists. Sound likes its going to be a lot of fun.
