We've been working our fingers to the bone over here at chez vintage prints making our vintage paper envelopes for sale at Magnolia Square this week.

Only three more sleeps to go now - doors open at 5pm Thursday.

vintage journals, check

Another item on our list for the countdown for Magnolia Square next week is our vintage, wire-bound journals.

As well as the maths flash card journals, we've got some other designs such as Kids, Street Directory, Atlas Map, Country Diary, Encyclopedia and Photographic.

Each journal features pages from a vintage book, most dating from the late 1950s and mid 1960s. One page is showcased on the cover, several other pages are scattered throughout the journal. Ruled pages are made from 100% recycled, Australian-made paper. Every one is unique, as the pages we use as the original pages from each book, not reproductions or colour copies. Once each one is sold, that's it.

We'll have the whole range for sale at Magnolia Square, St Kilda from Thursday next week.

carry bags, check

We're making lists and checking them twice as we prepare for the first Magnolia Square event in Melbourne, at St Kilda next week.

Paper carry bags are on the list, and now we can cross them off. Yay!!

 

Our solution is a screenprinted logo/URL on kraft recycled paper bags. Up til now we've just been using plain bags, but they ain't doing us any favours in the branding stakes.

Now we can move onto the next thing on our list.

Up in this hills this morning we woke to drizzle and fog, then the sun started to come out. Drew captured this cobweb adorned with tiny water droplets.

Week 3 - more art from the streets around Rose St Market.

The first week Drew saw this little girl she was sans playing cards. The next week the cards appeared. This made him smile.

a gaggle of geese

  

Today our neighbours geese escaped and made a run for it up the road. Drew spied them and took these shots, luring them with stale bread.

Apparently they don't like having their photo taken, hissing as he tried to take some photos.

When I see them all I think of is a farmhouse in the countryside somewhere in France. Oh, and pate.

Drew has been playing with a "new" camera – a digital SLR we have on loan from an old friend. I think we are going to have to buy it off her. He loves it.

So far Drew is still doing his street art walkabout when we are at the Rose Street market. 

His second discovery was a variation on last week's street art.

 I love that the bottle cap is green!

countdown to Magnolia Square

During a business meeting this morning we realised that Magnolia Square at St Kilda is just two weeks away!

keeping my fingers busy

One thing I hadn't really thought about when we booked BOTH Saturdays and Sundays at the Rose Street market was all those hours sitting there, waiting for sales.

Over the two days we have 12 hours of waiting. And after the first hour or three of idle chit chat with market neighbours and stand faffing, you need something to keep you occupied.

So I decided to take some crochet to keep my fingers, hands and mind busy. Plus its productive as well. And I turned to comfort crochet, the sort of crochet that you don't need to think about, using a lovely yarn.

Of course this ended up being "Anne" one of my favourite patterns. Its also practical, as you build the length of the scarf as you go, allowing you to maximize every last centimetre of yarn. I just hate it when you crochet from side to side on a scarf and three quarters of the way along the last row you run out of yarn!

I'm up to ten Annes and counting...

 

happy valentines day

We're not really a couple that makes a big deal of Valentine's day. Though Drew did take this photo of a rose in our garden when we got home from the market last night.
