a wonderful combination
My handspun two-ply skein of merino/flax.
As a new-ish spinner (I took to the wheel only nine short months ago) I'm still trying out different fibres, testing different combinations, searching for my favourite.
My searching led me to this fibre combination: 50% merino/50% flax.
I wasn't sure if I could spin flax, I mean it doesn't have the give of wool, but I couldn't resist the colour and it looked sooooo good in the photos. So I bought it.
The batt is called Silence, and its by hedgehogfibres, an esty seller in Ireland. Her colors and photos are divine, you just can't help but fall in love with them.
It spun like a dream. I could feel the difference in texture, give and strength as I spun the two different fibres. Mostly I was able to spin a mix of both fibres, but sometimes I came across a pure merino or pure flax section in the batt so I just went with it.
I liked it so much I'm thinking about buying another set of batts. In the meantime I need to decide what to make with the yarn I've spun.
Any ideas?
WOW, such a pretty classic colourway!
Hmmm what to knit...well you could always pet it for a couple of months whilst you decide! lol

that yarn looks brilliant and just makes you want to cast it on to see how it knits up. No idea what I would knit with it, I could easily stare at it for a while deciding:)
