pure heaven
Merino roving in a colour called "Oyster" from hedgehog fibres – I bought two lots.
You know I'm obsessed with spinning. But what you probably don't realise is that I'm also obsessed with fibre. I mean, you can't spin without fibre can you?
If you have been checking out the flickr photostream with any regularity you will have seen the rovings and batts and resulting handspun I've churned out over the last few months. Sellers such as pigeonroof studio, feltstudiouk, coludlover69, loop, yarnzombie and ixchel bunny have become favourites. And I've found a new favourite: Hedgehog fibres.
This etsy seller based in Ireland produces the most wonderfully coloured rovings and batts. I purchased these originally. A blend of 70% merino and 30% silk in an lovely intense purple-blue.
Then I fell in love with her oyster colourway and had to buy both the roving (above), and the silk single.
Plus some merino and flax batts.
The latest package of goodies arrived last week, and I've already taken photos so you can see how yummy they are. If my bobbins weren't already full I'd start spinning today.
I think I need to buy some extra bobbins. And a ball winder. Perhaps a skein holder... After all, I've got all this fibre to spin!
In the meantime, I made a start on the silk...
That is the most gorgeous handspun ....

Please stop. I'm not ready for a new obsession yet - I have loads to learn on all the other crafty stuff I have going. And this one looks seriously dangerous because it's everything about texture and all that tonal subtlety. AARGH!
