a way to pass the time
Bed rest is not really condusive to screenprinting. But I think you have probably realised that already. So while I'm on the mend and waiting til I can get back on my feet, I'm finding small, portable crafty things I can do. The only criteria is I need to do it while confined to bed.
I've already ripped pages from about a year's worth of Inside Out, Real Living, Country Life, In Style magazines. I now have a pile of pages a foot high. Unfortunately I don't have the energy or patience to collate and paste them into visual diaries or inspiration books yet. I suspect these pages are destined to joing the other piles of ripped pages scattered around the studio. If I ever get round to sorting them out I'm going to have enough inspiration to last a lifetime!
My most recent amusement is crochet flowers. Simple, easy, quick... Satisfying. I'm trying out several of the patterns in my collection of crochet books. This also means I get to play with the lovely linens in my yarn stash. Some of the lovely Linnet linens.
And some other older linens that I snapped up at Lincraft back in 2003. In lovely natural, pink and cream shades. (That's why you have a stash ladies! When you see it you buy it. There is no way I'd be able to find these linens now. Not for love nor money.)
I ended up making about 20 assorted floral motifs. These will soon become flower brooches, just need to add the button and back closure. Oh, and sew in all the loose ends.
Blooms, crochet, linen, pale colours – sounds like Spring to me.
If you absolutely MUST see more photos check out the flick site...you have been warned.
everything's coming up spring for you...pretty,pretty flowers!
