a new crochet scarf
Anne crocheted in Peony from Pigeonroof Studios.
I can't decide if Anne is a grey or pink girl, so I'm making both simultaneously.
Then once I decided, I'll unravel the other one. Or I just might keep it. Or it could even end up as a present for someone...
Anne is a fabulous crochet scarf pattern using the Queen Anne lace motif. I first spied Anne over on Rachel's flickr photostream. Then she came to my attention over at Ravelry. I just knew I had to make her. (I have a thing for flower motifs and I looooove crochet).
I'm using a sock-weight yarn from Pigeonroof studios. I bought it in three colourways and I can't decide between two of them: Morning dove and Peony. In the shot above you can see them both side, so you can compare and contrast. Which one is your favourite?
Its a simple and quick pattern, once you get past the first three flower motifs and then work out how to make the scarf grow longer and longer with each motif. All you need to know is chain, double crochet, treble crochet and how to create a loop. The reason I'm so slow is I'm doing both the pink and grey ones together. Once you've finished a good blocking should make the "petals" stand out even more.
I can see this fast becoming a favourite: I'm already planning it a white/cream thick wool, a rust metallic yarn, maybe a plum tweedy one...not all for me mind you, as presents for people who have been very, very good.
oh, those look lovely...I'm partial to the mourning dove as well...

I don't crochet, but I fell in love with Anne when I found the pattern on Ravelry. I've recruited a friend to crochet it for me . . . in gray. So I'm partial to the Morning Dove. I just think the motif cries out for a neutral color to really show it off.
