a year I'll never forget
One of my favourite moments of 2007: 10 May, celebrating my 40th with Mr greenolive in Port Fairy, one of our favourite places. Not a terribly flattering shot, cause its late, we're tired and it was a point and click effort. But its us.
As one year draws to a close, and another unfolds full of promise, it's only natural to reflect on the year that was. To think about the changes, the lessons you learnt and the stuff that you survived that made you stronger. And also the good bits.
I can now look back on the year that was 2007 and honestly say that I haven't had a year like that since 1997! Talk about major change...
In 1997 my parents then-31-year marriage ended. I changed jobs. I met Mr greenolive. I turned 30. Until 2007, I'd thought that 1997 was pretty eventful. But I was wrong...
In 2007 I was made redundant. Now neither of us had jobs. We moved house. My Mother was diagonised with breast cancer. My youngest sister married. Greenolive popped up. My Mum had one of her lungs damaged by radiation. And after almost 6 months without a job I finally found one. Oh, and I turned 40.
It's only now, with the clarity and perspective of hindsight, I can look back on 2007 and see how much I learnt and how much I've grown. But there were lots of tears, fear, uncertaintity and doubt along the way.
I've also discovered that money really can't buy happiness and that my creativity hadn't disappeared. I learnt one lesson the hard way: you can't take your health for granted. I was reminded how lovely living in the Hills is. And I now know that work/life balance is more than just a buzz word.
So I'm looking forward to 2008. A little older and a lot wiser, I'm sure 2008 will be my best year yet! I might even lose those extra kilos...

I actually think that's a nice photo of the two of you. Wish we had one like that, where we both look good.
I hope that the new year brings you kinder and happier experiences. Happy New Year to you and your family.

Oh that does sound like quite a year!? Here's hoping that 2008 is more gentle on you. And that maybe you get to knit socks! (i'm with domesticlai in the 'sock wars'!)

Goodness, that WAS a big year. But I think the good thing about having one like that is that when everything in life gets shaken up, there are lots of new possibilities in the fall-out.
Hope 2008 brings some very happy things.

It is great looking back on a year when things start to change. I wonder if this year will be the one for me with big changes happening so soon! The photo is a lovely one by the way!
