was a long one!
WIP: cut out fabric ready to sew
Yesterday was my last day of freedom. Funny, it didn't feel that free. All work and only a tiny bit of play. It was my last day to tie up all my loose ends before I start my new job. And sort out my piles. And...
In no particular order, here's what the list looked like:
1. check blog/flickr ('cause the light was good)
2. upload new photos
3. take new photos
Told you the light was good. Shadows on green paper cast by sunlight shining through some Ikeas tealight holders. Very artistic don't ya think?
4. check bloglinese (cause Mr greenolive was having a lie-in: English for sleep in!)
5. check everyone's new photos in flickr
6. sort out new fabric
7. ditto with new wool
8. ditto with new beads
9. tidy studio/workroom
10. do all this while being quiet as a mous
11. cook yummy breakfast (scrambled eggs and mushrooms with a cup of English Breakfast tea)
12. pack up my sewing stuff
13. find the fabric for the backs of the scarves
14. put away the WIP felt flowers
They look like Butterfly specimens don't they? After cutting out about 40 of the things and then colour matching their centre bits and buttons I had to come up with a creative way of not mixing them up. Mr greenolive agonised over which flower went with which centre and which button! He's a great help.
15. clean up the dressmaker's dummy I bought
16. get to Bunnings to buy things on Mr greenolive's list (he doesn't drive)
17. vacuum WHOLE house
18. clean bathroom
19. sort through paperwork on desk
20. finalise Father's Day present for postage
21. unpack the still-unpacked boxes with stuff from my old office
22. mentally prepare for work tomorrow
23. wash sheets
24. pick tomorrow's (now today's) power outfit (needed to say professional yet approachable and I'm a really nice person with a creative twist)
25. visit with Anna (now you know why I said come at 3pm not 2pm!)
As you can see, almost everything got done. I've told you before that I'm good with deadlines!
PS: Anna's artwork is lovely. I've bought three pieces so far (not that I'm bragging!). Her work has a graphic yet minimal quality to it, with lots of surface texture created by stitching and collage. And the best bit is each of them is an original! Check them out on her blog or flickr site.
yes, it was a mighty long list and it felt good to get a lot crossed off. First day was as good as any first day can be – watch out for the blog post!

Dear GreenOlive - I hope your first day went well!
I'm impressed with how much you accomplished on your list! I do better with a list if I've got a deadline to meet. Otherwise I just dither...
Lucky Anna to live close enough to visit face to face...:0)
Continued good thoughts to you for more of your first days at work ! L.
