the feathered variety
I know, two posts in one day is a tad excessive. But once you read the post you'll agree that this couldn't wait til tomorrow.
Sometimes it's interesting to see the reaction a photo elicits. Usually this a photo Mr greenolive has taken and I upload so he feels a bit more involved in my blogging-flickr obsession. (But don't tell him that!) And often it's a photo that I'm not that attached to.
For example, yesterday I posted a photo of five Kookaburras on flickr.
Comments were made about how cool they looked; what sort of sound they made; how someone had never seen one in real life; and another hadn't see so many together before. And these were just Kookaburras.
So here are some more shots for you.
I'm ready for my close-up
Profile with sunlight
You looking at me?
I casually slipped into my description that we get King Parrots too. (I think I was boasting.) Lucyell06 requested a photo of them. And I'm please to announce that the King Parrots obliged. I don't know how they knew, but right on cue they arrived this morning.
It was a beautiful morning this morning. Nice and clear. And Mr greenolive spotted two hot air balloons rising above Melbourne's skyline. (I took a photo but its not that great.) I'd hung the washing and left some seed out hoping someone might visit.
I settled down to check email and Mr greenolive left for work at 7.30am. For some reason, around 7.45, I looked up and spied a King Parrot sitting on the rail. Thinking of lucyellen06 and how excited she'd be, I grabbed the camera. And this is what I got. (Mr greenolive is the wildlife photographer in our family, but I did my best.)
He was looking at me! This is a male, you can tell because he is more brightly coloured than his wife.
Mrs King Parrot, a little bit shy and less colourful. She didn't come down.
Blurry action shot: Mr King Parrot eating.
So, lucyellen06, you ask and I deliver. Enjoy!
hey martine, 've left you a comment on my blog...it's taken me a while to wake up this morning, i didn't realise it was you. doh. thanks for your order by the way, i'm glad '3 flowers' is going to a good home! :)

Would you believe they came back again this morning (Friday 24/8)? This time Mrs King Parrot decided to eat something. More shots on flickr site soon.
