waiting, waiting, waiting...
(detail of a "stripy thing" – a range of scarves I'll be selling at our market stall)
On Friday we put in our application for a market stall. It was a bit of a production! Application form, terms and conditions, photos, profiles, info about our products – its almost as intense as a job application!
In case you are wondering, "we" is Aunty Shabby and I. And who's Aunty Shabby? My sister S. And I taught her everything she knows. Seriously. Aunty Shappy is five years younger and she grew up watching me sew, design, shop for stash... She was often the recipient of my creations. She still has (and wears!) some of the stuff that I made for her in the early 1990s. We still remember where we bought each piece of fabric.
Between us we have knitting, crochet, sewing and beading covered. Thankfully our styles are different and we make different stuff. She has a thing for handbags. I have one for scarves. So it made sense to do this together. (Plus, how are you going to go to the loo if there's only one of you manning the stall? You have to think about the practicalities!)
Now its just a waiting game. We'll find out after the market selection committee meet on 10 or 17 July. We've got our fingers crossed and are furiously making stuff. And thinking about swing tags, labels, packaging, display techniques, pricing, signage, business cards, what to wear...
so you see my dilemma and why I've started thinking about it already!
And sibling rivalry dictates that I need to look more "crafty" than Aunty Shabby!

good luck with your markets application. If that tantalising snippet of a scarf is anything to go by I can't see why they would knock you back. and I think what your wearing will definitely be your biggest marketing tool!
