We've had the studio/showroom for almost a month now, and we still haven't settled in properly. But at least things are sorted enough for us to function: both production and sales.
The showroom/shop is really just a VERY BIG market stand – at least that's how I've approached it in terms of layout, display and styling. In my mind its a much larger and more permanent Magnolia Square, and as such I'm constantly tweaking things or as Drew refers to it, faffing.
Subconsciously I must have always wanted a shop because most of the vintage bits and pieces I've collected over the past 25 years seem right at home in this space: old pigeon hole dividers, a parker knoll 1930s armchair, wooden Coke crates, a metal paper stand, various measuring scales, wooden type cases and stands, old cones of coloured wool, assorted silver bakeware, a wooden sewing case...
Luckily our landord let us have three fabulous pieces of furniture on loan until we can afford to buy them and they are perfect for the space: a wooden shelf unit, a fantastic 1960s teak buffet with six drawers, and an art deco-style dining table which has become the centrepiece of the shop display.
The showroom/shop is almost finished, so we'll take some photos so you can see how its turned out. I hope its got the "wow" factor.
You should drop in and check it out for yourself.

congrats on the studio workshop!
